Description
This handloom marked Dhonekhali cotton saree, comes from Dhonekhali in Hooghly district of West Bengal. This sandalwood colour saree has the trademark fish motif typical of a Dhonekhali saree. The fish motif is woven using red yarn in a horizontal sequence across the entire body of the saree. The horizontal blocks of fish motifs are separated by narrow horizontal strips of zigzag pattern woven using the same red yarn. The saree has extra broad plain red border with ikkat like pattern in sandalwood and red that beautifully overlaps the border as well as the body of the saree. The pallu of the saree has simple stripes of varying width in lighter shade of the red colour that run vertically over the horizontal design. The pallu of the saree is adorned with the trademark ‘khejur chori’ design thread atypical of a Dhonekhali saree. This saree doesn’t come with a blouse piece.
This saree is absolutely perfect for attending any auspicious religious ceremony. This saree can be paired with fabric or simple gold jewellery.
